F1® RETURNS TO PORTUGAL
In 2020, the event marked the return of Formula 1 to Portugal after a 24-year absence, being the first time the Algarve International Circuit hosted an F1 race. This race was remarkable because, with his 92nd F1 victory, Lewis Hamilton of Mercedes became the all-time record holder for wins in Formula 1 history, surpassing Michael Schumacher’s previous record.
Completing the podium, second place was for Valtteri Bottas (Mercedes) and Max Verstappen (Red Bull Racing-Honda) got third place.
The 2021 FORMULA 1 GRANDE PRÉMIO DE PORTUGAL took place on May 2, 2021, and the winner was Lewis Hamilton of Mercedes, repeating his victory six months after the 2020 race, consolidating his lead in the 2021 championship at the time. In second place was Max Verstappen of Red Bull Racing-Honda and in third Valtteri Bottas of Mercedes.
The Autódromo Internacional do Algarve, also known as Portimão Circuit, located near the sunny coast of Portimão, Portugal, is a modern and exciting racing circuit. Benefiting from the region’s excellent weather, it has become a premier venue for major motorsports events since 2008. With its famous rollercoaster-like, steep inclination, the circuit proudly hosted the FORMULA 1 GRANDE PRÉMIO DE PORTUGAL in 2020 and 2021, along with the FIM World Superbike Championship and MotoGP Algarve Grand Prix rounds.
The 2020 F1 Portuguese Grand Prix will be forever marked in the fans’ minds as this was the race where the circuit’s record lap time was established: 1:18.750 by Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes).

What is this registration?
This registration process allows you to register your interest on receiving information about the FORMULA 1 GRANDE PRÉMIO DE PORTUGAL 2027 at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve.
